Crochet Lavender & Cream Floral Table Runner Pattern

Create a beautiful lavender and cream crochet table runner inspired by the design in the photo. This elegant piece combines spiral crochet circles, openwork lace, scalloped edges, dimensional flowers, and textured green leaves. It is perfect for a dining table, coffee table, or special occasion centerpiece.

Note: The photo shows a finished decorative design rather than a written crochet pattern, so the instructions below are a reconstructed pattern inspired by the pictured runner. You may need to adjust stitch counts slightly depending on your yarn, hook, and tension.

Materials

  • Cream cotton crochet yarn
  • Lavender/pastel purple cotton yarn
  • Olive or sage-green yarn
  • Light brown yarn for flower centers
  • Crochet hook appropriate for your yarn, approximately 3–3.5 mm
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers

Finished Design

The runner is made from repeating floral sections:

  • Lavender spiral circles create the main colored accents.
  • Cream openwork sections connect the circles.
  • Each large section is decorated with a 3D cream flower.
  • Green leaves are crocheted separately and attached around each flower.
  • A border of small cream bobbles/picots finishes the outside edge.

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • tr – treble crochet
  • st – stitch
  • sk – skip
  • rep – repeat

Part 1 – Lavender Spiral Circles

Make several lavender circles for the runner. The pictured design uses approximately six large lavender circular motifs, arranged along the length of the runner.

Round 1

With lavender yarn, make a magic ring.

Ch 2, then work 12 dc into the ring.

Sl st to the first dc.

Round 2

Ch 2.

Work 2 dc in each stitch around.

Sl st to join.

Round 3

Ch 2.

Work:

1 dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch

Repeat around.

Round 4

Continue increasing evenly:

1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st

Repeat around.

Round 5–7

Continue working dc rounds, increasing only when necessary to keep the circle flat.

Finish with a neat sl st.

The result should be a firm, flat lavender spiral-like disc.

Make approximately 6 circles.

Part 2 – Cream Openwork Motif

The cream sections surrounding the lavender circles create the distinctive lace appearance seen in the photograph.

Foundation

With cream yarn, make a magic ring.

Ch 3 and work 11 dc into the ring.

Join with a sl st.

Openwork Round

Ch 5.

Skip 2 stitches and work sc in the next stitch.

Repeat:

ch 5, sk 2, sc in next st

around the circle.

Lace Round

Sl st into the first chain space.

Work:

sc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, sc

into the same space.

Repeat in every chain space.

This creates decorative fan-shaped sections.

Outer Lace Round

Work elongated chain arches around the motif:

sc, ch 6, sc in next space

Repeat around.

For a more open appearance, use ch 7 or ch 8.

Part 3 – Connecting the Motifs

Arrange the lavender circles and cream lace motifs in an alternating serpentine arrangement, as shown in the photograph.

Place one lavender circle beside one cream lace section.

Join them using cream yarn with sc stitches and chain arches.

For each connection:

  1. Insert the hook through the edge of the first motif.
  2. Make a sc.
  3. Ch 3–5.
  4. Attach to the second motif with a sc.
  5. Repeat along the joining area.

Keep the connections slightly curved rather than perfectly straight. This creates the flowing S-shaped appearance of the runner.

Part 4 – Decorative Cream Flowers

Each major section is decorated with a large dimensional flower.

Flower Center

With brown yarn, make a magic ring.

Work approximately 12 sc into the ring.

Pull the ring closed and join with a sl st.

For extra texture, add small raised stitches or bobble stitches around the center.

Petal Round

Change to cream yarn.

Attach yarn to the center.

For each petal:

sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc

in the next stitches.

Repeat around.

Second Petal Layer

For a fuller 3D flower, work another layer behind the first.

Use:

sc, hdc, 4 dc, hdc, sc

for each larger petal.

Gently pull the petals forward so the flower has a raised, layered appearance.

Make approximately 3 large flowers for the runner.

Part 5 – Crochet Leaves

Use sage or olive-green yarn.

Leaf

Ch 10.

Starting in the second chain from the hook:

sc, hdc, dc, dc, tr, dc, dc, hdc, sc

Work down the opposite side of the foundation chain using matching stitches.

Sl st at the base.

For a more realistic leaf, add a line of sl sts down the center.

Make 3–4 leaves per flower.

Arrange the leaves underneath the flower petals and sew them securely into place.

Part 6 – Bobble Border

The photograph features a beautiful rounded cream edging.

Attach cream yarn around the outside edge.

Work:

sc in next stitch, bobble in next stitch, sc in next stitch

Repeat around the entire runner.

Bobble

A simple bobble can be made by working several partially completed dc stitches into the same stitch and closing them together.

Keep the bobbles approximately the same size for a neat border.

At the end, join with a sl st and weave in all ends.

Finishing

Lay the completed runner flat on a clean towel.

Lightly dampen it and gently shape:

  • straighten the cream lace sections
  • round the lavender circles
  • arrange the flowers evenly
  • spread the leaves naturally
  • shape the bobble edging

Allow the piece to dry completely before placing it on the table.

Color Combination

For the same elegant look as the photograph:

Cream + soft lavender + sage green + warm brown

The cream provides the lace background, lavender gives the runner its soft focal color, while the green leaves and brown flower centers add natural contrast.

Design Tip

For a longer dining-table runner, simply repeat the lavender-circle and cream-lace section before adding the final flower and border. This makes the pattern easy to customize to any table length.
